Uploaded A Better Stream Of An MP3 Here!
Matt Banx, March 03/03/08, 2008

I uploaded a better stream of Chasin' The Blues (In A Former Disco Club). I check the streams when I first upload an mp3 and I thought it sounded okay. This one sounds as it should though.

Walls
Matt Banx, January 01/18/08, 2008

Did an all acoustic recording with harmony vocals called "Walls". It is inspired by Bob Dylan and sixties folk rock and prog.  The lyrics are about growing through humility and realizing that I am going to die.

Chasin' The Rock (And The Blues Within)
Matt Banx, January 01/06/08, 2008

I put up an mp3 about going to a club to get out and chase my lonleliness between long work shifts. It used to be a disco club and a loud guitar act was playing there. I can still see the old paint and some of the decore from when I was barely old enough to remember.

I purchased a Yamaha Portasound and used the keys in the middle part. I thought it had a Flashdance type of sound that would make an appropriate counterpoint for the topic.

I signed onto a Premium account.

Now I have the recordingd here I could'nt post.

The song "Something To Last" is a track that is meant for an album I intend to do. Whenever I feel that I have the songs and recordings adequate for a full lenglthed cd set of songs.

I also have a song I uploaded called "Reach Inside". This recording is more A-Typical of the type of songs I do. A bit of an eighties pop/rock influence. Heavy synth and electric guitar.

But I don't want to have a box mentality with what I want to do musically. There is still much I need to really, really work on in my songwriting and playing. And project oveerseer has also made me interested in video technology.

I would like to eventually do film type music as well as the typical pop/rock song.

This seems like the best site to learn from.

Advice much appreciated!

I replaced "Through The Darkness" with a different mixed version .
I record the bass and drum quite high in a recording.
I did it too high on the replaced version and the rest of the music fell too far into the background.

Now you get to really hear how bad my playing is.

I just want to have something to do with what I grew up loving---MUSIC!!!

I left "Race Of Time" as it is.
It is meant to be a romantic ballad, and I thought that the song might be too boring with softer drums.

I like that band type of kick.
Like it is being recorded live.
But I have no practical experience in that outside of being an observer.

Anyways, I hoipe you like what I believe is an improved take of "Through The Darkness", and comments on m6y recordings would be greatly appreciated.

My Blog 2

I put up 2 new recordings.
I have been trying to clean up my sound.
I have been using a VIA Audio sound card and a Simple Tech hard drive.
I uploaded the ballad "Race Of Time" at 160 kbps. The sound came out too flat with less volume at 192 kbps.
"Through The Darkness", which is a more guitar oriented song was uploaded at 160 kbps.
More kbps helps with the guitar.
Even though keyboard is my main instrument, I like vocal/guitarists such as Greg Kihn and Tom Petty.
"The Breakup Song (They Don't Write Em') is one of my favorite eighties songs.
I wish I had pipes like that.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy.

Lo-Fi pop/rock and acoustic.
I record as a hobby.
I have no real practical experience except swapping guitar licks with friends in bands.
Seems so long, long ago and they moved away.
I fancied playing the keyboard first. Just to have the ease in sounds to sing to.

I would like to collab, get production tips with lo-fi recoridngs and eventually do a concept piece someday.
I was thinking of Pink Floyd meets The Cars, with a bit of The Clash and The Talking Heads sprinkled in for good measure.
But I am open to many influences.
