Our newest is now uploaded. Hope you enjoy this one...it's probably my personal favorite out of all the ones I've written over the years. It's called "Burnin' Wood". Much of it is based upon actual people and events. A note about the 'string' parts: they were played by me on my girlfriend's little midi keyboard using emu's Proteus X sound module for the sounds. I changed the title of this tune from "In the Ghetto" to "The Tracks" because I think it better reflects the subject of the song, which is the disparity between the rich and the poor. I was reading about the town of Asbury Park, NJ in the 1950's and how the train tracks separated the rich and middle class, and all white, east side of town from the mostly poor and Afro-American west side. A new child is born, and his/her future is determined, in large part, by which side of 'the tracks' he was born on. This was true in the 1950's, and I think it's true to a large extent today. Newly updated 8-08-07 with new organ tracks and a new ending courtesy of yours truly.

This song was not sounding right and it was driving me crazy. I finally found out the problem. I uploaded it in mono instead of stereo. I pushed the wrong button in my recording program...not too bright... but it's fixed now. If anyone wondered why that song sounded so crappy, that's the answer.

Slight update of this song...I boosted one of the guitar tracks a bit and boosted the bass as well. Some of the guitar was getting lost in the mix. Very slight eq change also, to match original recording of the song. Sounds strange, but I was so poor that I was mixing with a cheap pair of 'walkman' type headphones...definitely not a good idea, but when you are broke you've got no choice in the matter! Now that I've got a better pair of headphones I have to edit some of the tunes.

I am uploading a brand new mix of "The Crooked Highway". Actually, it's the first two verses that are new mixes. The choruses have stayed pretty much unchanged. I've also reduced some of the "over the top" reverb on the guitar. I had a good time writing the lyrics for this song. Hope you enjoy.
